Valley X and Plus +3 Robotics is a part of an organization called FIRST®, which stands for “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.” The organization is aimed at kids and teens ranging from Pre-K aged students through seniors in high school. It is divided up into four categories: FLL JR., FLL, FTC, and FRC. We are a part of FTC.

Valley X Robotics (2844) was founded in 2008, during FTC Challenge, “FACE OFF,” and entered our rookie year with four members. In July of 2014,our team expanded to the largest in our history, to over 20 kids, which mean we had to expand. 8640 (now 12841) was born.

FTC is comprised of Middle School and High school students, grades 7-12th, who design a robot each year to play and compete in a different game which is released in September. For FTC, the robot has to fit into an 18 inch cube. After the start of the match, the robot can go to any size it wants to complete certain tasks.

Every year, the game changes. Over the past few years, the games have included objects such as wiffle balls, gold balls, plastic rings, blocks, pipes, and hockpucks. The list goes on. Teams have from September, to around January or Feburary to design, compete and win a spot at one of the 4 Super Regionals (North, South, East, and West). From there, the best of 72 teams from each section of the United States compete for a spot at the WORLD Championship, which has been held at St Louis for the past 4 years. Only 25 teams advance from the Super Regional to WORLDS.

In 2015, Valley X Robotics, on their 5th time to WORLDS, came out on top and was named the 2015 FTC WORLD CHAMPION!
